From Switzerland to Italy
The Bergell is an idyllic valley in the Alps, connecting Grisons with the north of Italy. Steep granite mountains, huge woods and crystal clear lakes join the almost mediterranean vegetation in the valley. Hikers, mountain climbers as well as artists are fascinated by this landscape.
The centuries-old hiking trails through the untouched nature are a wonderful experience for those following the tracks of artists like Alberto Giacometti, Giovanni Segantini or Varlin.
A special place to visit is the Castelmur castle built in the mid 19th century, which is opened for visitors, as well as Soglio, a village located at a sunny terraced hillside. From the granite houses you have a breathtaking view over the chestnut woods, which is especially beautiful when turning golden in autumn.
